Welcome to the September edition of Rooted & Rising.
August reminded us that before we rise in purpose, we must first become deeply rooted in Christ. September takes us a step further. It is not enough to be rooted; what is rooted must eventually become fruitful.
Jesus said, “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” Fruitfulness is therefore not merely about achievement. It is evidence of spiritual maturity. God desires that what He is doing in you eventually becomes visible through the way you live, lead, love, serve, work, build and influence others.
A tree does not produce fruit by struggling to manufacture fruit every morning. It produces because it is properly rooted, nourished and connected to its source. In the same way, sustainable fruitfulness in life flows from our relationship with God.
This month, we will explore what it means to become people who are deeply rooted, spiritually mature, wisely led, emotionally healthy, disciplined in action and fruitful in influence.
Some days will challenge you to examine your heart. Some will strengthen your faith. Others will speak to your relationships, leadership, work, finances, purpose and decisions. Do not read this devotional merely to complete another month. Read it to be formed.
Allow the Word to correct you where necessary, strengthen you where you are weak, heal what has been wounded, restore what has been lost, and awaken what God has placed inside you.
My prayer is that by the end of September, you will not simply have read thirty devotionals. You will have become more rooted, more mature and more fruitful.
- May your roots go deeper.
- May your character become stronger.
- May your faith become steadier.
- May your influence become healthier.
- And may your life increasingly bear fruit that brings glory to Christ.
Remain rooted.
Keep growing.
Live fruitfully.
